How to Create a WordPress Contact Form Without Coding

A common misconception is that a “real” contact form needs a developer — some PHP to handle the mail function, some validation logic, maybe a database table for storing submissions. None of that is true anymore. With a plugin like Contactum, the entire process is point-and-click, from building the form to placing it on a page.

The Drag-and-Drop Builder

After installing the free Contactum plugin, go to Contactum → Forms → Add New. You’re shown a canvas representing your live form and a panel of field types on the right — Text, Email, Phone, Dropdown, Checkbox, File Upload, Date, and more. Adding a field is a drag from the panel onto the canvas; reordering fields is a drag within the canvas. Clicking a field opens a settings panel where you set its label, whether it’s required, and its width — all through form controls, no code editing anywhere in the flow.

Start From a Template Instead of Blank

If you don’t want to assemble a form field-by-field at all, Contactum’s template library includes pre-built forms for common needs — a simple contact form, event registration, job application, feedback survey — that you can drop in and tweak instead of build from scratch.

Or Describe the Form You Want

Contactum also includes an AI form generator. Once an OpenAI API key is added under Contactum → Settings → AI Form Generator, you can describe the form you need in plain language — “a rental application form with name, contact details, move-in date, and income” — and Contactum builds a starting set of fields and labels for you to refine, rather than starting from an empty canvas.

No-Code Notifications and Spam Protection

Deciding who gets emailed on a new submission is a form-based settings panel (the Notifications tab), where you pick a recipient and write a subject/body using clickable smart tags instead of raw variables. Spam protection needs even less — every form already has a honeypot field, a minimum-time check, and rate limiting turned on with nothing to configure; adding a visible CAPTCHA is just dragging a reCAPTCHA/hCaptcha/Turnstile field onto the form after saving a site key under Settings.

Placing It on Your Site

The Embed button in the form builder’s toolbar is the last no-code step — click it, choose an existing page or create a new one, and Contactum inserts the form and takes you to the editor to publish. There’s no shortcode to memorize unless you want more control over placement, and even then it’s a matter of pasting [contactum id="123"] rather than writing any actual code.

Reviewing Submissions

Once the form is live, every submission is saved automatically and viewable in Contactum → Entries — a searchable, filterable table you can export to CSV whenever you need the data in a spreadsheet. Again, no database queries, no code — just a page in wp-admin.

Start to finish, building, protecting, placing, and reviewing a WordPress contact form is entirely achievable without opening a single PHP file.
